Todd Park's story

A dated timeline of the health tech founder who moved from athenahealth to the White House to Medicare Advantage.

Todd Park was born in Salt Lake City in 1973 to Korean immigrant parents. His father, a chemical engineer, became one of Dow Chemical's most decorated engineers, and the family grew up in Granville, Ohio. Park graduated from Harvard with a degree in economics.

He co-founded athenahealth in 1997 at age 24 and Castlight Health in 2008. From 1 March 2012 to 28 August 2014 he served as the second U.S. Chief Technology Officer. He also helped lead the first HealthCare.gov, reportedly built in 90 days.

In 2017 Park and his brother Ed founded Devoted Health. Their father had saved $50,000 for his own graduate school and gave it to them to start the company. Devoted sells Medicare Advantage plans and runs its own care team for members.

Devoted reported 466,000 Medicare Advantage members in 29 states in January 2026, up 121 percent from a year earlier. A Series F in January 2026 valued it at about $16.1 billion, and talks at about $25 billion were reported in August 2026.
